“Escape for your life! Do not look behind you, and do not stay anywhere in the valley; escape to the mountains, or you will be swept away” (Genesis 19:17).

Thought Adjuster: “Let us use the biblical story of Lot and his wife as a modern-day metaphor by transposing its context.  Many of you are obsessively revisiting traumatic events that occurred in your emotional past.  Unaware, you are attaching strings to them, and by doing so, you continuously add to their unprocessed load.  Isn’t it paradoxical that you stubbornly hold on to the very memories from which you wish to escape?  How could you freely move into a brighter future, if for some incomprehensible reason, you insist on dragging behind you the handicapping weight of such toxic memories?

“Go within and take the lay of your inner land.  Do you feel emotionally featherlight or are you at high at risk to be engulfed anew in this emotional quicksand?  To make better-informed decisions, you need to examine how you lead your life.  A butterfly has to claim its independence from its caterpillar status.  It is when it breaks through the confinement of its cocoon, never to crawl back in the claustrophobia of the dark pod of its pre-existence.  It then gets in touch with its beautiful wings and, soon after that, takes flight toward a much brighter destination.  What a blissful feeling it must be to be featherlight after being earthbound for what might have felt like a grueling eternity!

“Dear ones, leave behind once and for all the dark ages of your ‘formation stage.’  Sever all unhealthy attachments to the foregone past so that you can be propelled unhampered through the threshold of a thrilling present.  Indeed, you walk backward whenever you turn your back to the future, putting yourself at high risk of tripping and falling.  As well, you are letting the past turn you into ‘salty pillars’—frozen in time and space.

“Are your thoughts leading or misleading you?  Be mindful of them.   You have the power to place a gag order on the malicious ones and to grant free speech to the inspiring ones—the ones whispered to you by Spirit and that infuse your determined forward steps with a carefree bounce.”
