“God answers the soul’s attitude, not the words. Prayer is not a technique of escape from conflict but rather a stimulus to growth in the very face of conflict. Pray only for values, not things; for growth, not for gratification.” [UB 91:8:12-13]
Thought Adjuster: “Dear child, you will never err in assuming that I know the real you. What about you? Do you know the real Me?
It all depends on how much energy you invest in our relationship. I am not the pushy type; I am the patient one. I will never impose Myself in your life, even though I AM life itself, as I directly hailed from the First Source and Center of All-That-Is.
“Set your mind at work to solve its problems; teach your intellect to work for you; refuse longer to be dominated by fear like an unthinking animal. Your mind should be your courageous ally in the solution of your life problems rather than your being, as you have been, its abject fear-slave and the bond servant of depression and defeat.” [UB 130:6:3]
Thought Adjuster: “At times, it seems to you that you place perfectly acceptable requests for Divine Consideration without getting the solicited return. What you forget is that you live in time-space reality.
Jesus enjoined to patience: “Everything must wait the coming of its time. […] no amount of anxiety and no manifestation of impatience will help you to grow up.” [UB 130:5:3] Divine Wisdom determines both the method and the timing for the delivery of the answers to prayers.
Thought Adjuster: “You have to feel your way through the darkness, which implies that you may bump into things and get bruised. When you are taken over by spiritual, emotional, or intellectual gloominess, it is an act of bravery on your part to keep plowing forward, looking for a smart way out. How else could you ever emerge from these claustrophobia-inducing predicaments?
“Prayer has been the ancestor of much peace of mind, cheerfulness, calmness, courage, self-mastery, and fair-mindedness in the men and women of the evolving races.” [UB 91:4:5]
Thought Adjuster: Unlike many of your prescription drugs, prayer has no negative side-effects. I am talking here about ‘authentic’ prayer—the one that surges from a wide-open heart, in contrast with the one recited by rote as the performance of a religious ‘duty’ advertised to earn you brownie points for good behavior.
Thought Adjuster: “Let us explore the topic of Self-Consciousness. Unlike animals, human beings are self-conscious. What does it imply?
To be conscious of your existence is the beginning of selfhood. However, it is only an initial framework around which you need to expand who you are. How do you proceed?
Thought Adjuster: “Relaxation is conducive to an in-flow of inspiration. On the other hand, as often experienced in your world, tensions and anxieties stifle creativity.
Thought Adjuster: “What does a humble bow symbolize? I am speaking here of the respectful ‘Namaste Bow’— “The God in me bows to the God in you.”
Because of its sublime object, your bow is slow, intentional, and made with full awareness. As your spine obediently and graciously curves under your mental prompt, you relish that smooth forward and downward movement.
Thought Adjuster: “Thoughts 'form' in the mind. It is not a metaphor but the way it goes with the thinking process. Myriads of thoughts pop willy-nilly in your mind through the constant brain activity of neurons. Once an embryonic thought-form catches your attention, you mentally zoom in to further investigate and develop it. 'Thought-appeal' can exert a good or bad influence according to its content in truth, beauty, and goodness.
